This piece I did first as a portrait in 2003. I reworked it 3 times in 2004, 2013 and finally in 2019. I feel the piece is finally finished. This will also be featured in an exhibition that I will be having at Gallery 1313 from October 23 through Nov 6.

I created this painting by randomly laying down the first 79 digits of the number Pi.

Fibonnacci 17

This painting depicts the first 17 terms in the Fibonacci series. The next term is the sum of the previous two terms. There are numerous applications of this series in math, architecture and nature. I enjoy bringing math into my artwork when I am inspired in this way. SOLD through Canvas Gallery. 

This piece was featured on Season 4, Episode 2 of the Handmaid's Tale.

Geometric Abstraction 2017

I visited the Art Gallery of Ontario earlier this week with my niece, my daughter and my mom. Here is a piece that I did playing with construction paper and foam.

Uxmal 1998 available through ArtBomb

This latest piece was made by reminiscing about my visit to the mayan archaeological site, Uxmal. I am very much inspired by the layout of this site, the shape of the buildings and the numerous geometric patterns that are visible in the architecture. I have had the opportunity over the past 25 years to visit quite a few of these sites. Uxmal is a very special location that often takes a back seat to the more popular, Chichen Itza.

About: The text laid down behind the graphic images is part of the wikipedia entry for the number 8, as this piece was created on an 8 x 8 panel. The glyphs or symbols laid down over top were done while reminiscing about a visit to the mayan ruins in Copan, Honduras in the summer of 1989. I was particularly intrigued by a hieroglyphic stairway there which seemed to be composed of rectangles within a rectangular staircase.

Background: This piece is inspired by the colour palette of Paul Klee. Each individual rectangle is in the same proportion as the canvas as a whole.

Pi to 79 decimal places

Here is a piece I have been working on over the summer. It is titled, Pi to 79 decimal places. I started laying down the numbers and when I got to 79, I felt the piece was finished. However, as with Pi, I could easily have kept on going.

New work at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, July 5, 6 and 7, Nathan Phillips Square

The 52nd Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is happening at Toronto City Hall on July 5th, 6th and 7th from 10 am to 6:30 pm. This is the premiere outdoor exhibition every year in Toronto. 400 Artists are selected in a variety of media. I am fortunate again to have been selected and will be exhibiting in the White section, booth 148. My booth is on the East side of City Hall, easily accessible from Bay Street.

New painting at To Go Foodbar, 1133 Yonge Street, Toronto. I have 17 new pieces up at this cafe in the heart of Rosedale.

To Go Foodbar is open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm.

My piece "Titanium White" (third from the left above) was featured on HGTV.com on Jan. 31st. Th piece was included in a feature on the online gallery "ArtBomb" of which I have twice had work shown.

Remembering the Uptown Backstage Cinema

I painted this box this week as part of a Bell Box beautification project in the Yonge and Bloor area. I based the piece on the signage of the Uptown Backstage theatre which was demolished about 10 years ago.

A big thank you to 6 St. Joseph House for securing the funding to make this project happen.


As part of this project, Artists had to choose a historical photograph from the City of Toronto archives to base their artwork on. As I am a big fan of abstract and text-based art, I steered clear of horse and buggy photographs and went for some bright colours instead.

Holiday Show at Arta Gallery in the Distillery District

This Friday December 2nd from 6 to 8 pm, Arta Gallery holds its annual Holiday Exhibition. My piece, Fibonacci, will be on display.

Nuit Blanche - this Saturday October 1st from 7 pm to 7 am

This Saturday evening starting at 7 pm, Nuit Blanche takes over Toronto. I will be part of an interesting interactive exhibit at Propeller (984 Queen Street West). If you are in the neighbourhood, drop by and say hello. I will be in the gallery from 7 pm to 9 pm and then out taking in the festivities. My piece, the first 32 prime numbers, will be on display. Propeller celebrates 15 years at Queen and Ossington

On Thrusday August 18th, Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts celebrated 15 years on the Queen West strip. An exhibition of current and past members is on until August 28th. Geoff Pevere of the Toronto Star wrote a nice review of the exhibit, gallery and its celebration of 15 years. My piece, Stopped at 20, is featured in this exhibit.

I was recently included in a project called Bank on Art which showcases contemporary art on the display screen of a functional bank machine.
